Michelle Colón was crowned Miss Universe Puerto Rico 2021 at the end of the finals, held on September, 30 2021 at Luis A. Ferré Performing Arts Center, in San Juan Puerto Rico. She competed against 25 other delegates to win the opportunity to represent the Caribbean island in the Miss Universe 2021 pageant that will celebrate its 70th edition in December this year in Israel.
Michelle was born and raised in Bayamon, Puerto Rico, but also has Dominican roots. The 21-year-old beauty queen had a successful modeling career, even walking in New York Fashion Week in 2019 but she was also recognized for her philanthropy. She’s the founder of the C.A.R.E. Empowerment Program, a mentorship program designed to help equip and empower young girls to become future leaders. She received the L’Oréal “Woman of Courage” award at the Miss Universe Puerto Rico competition in recognition of her efforts.

Not a newbie to pageantry, Michelle previously won the Miss Teen Americas Puerto Rico competition in 2018.
The 2021 Miss Universe Puerto Rico’s court includes Jaylene Marie Álvarez (San Lorenzo) and Oxana Isabel Rivera Álvarez (Dorado) as first runner-up and second runner-up respectively.
