Susy Sacoto was crowned Miss Ecuador 2021 at the end of the finals, held on 11th September 2021 at the Malecon Eloy Alfaro in Quevedo, Ecuador. She succeeds Miss Universe Ecuador 2020 Leyla Espinoza and beaten 19 other candidates to win this title. She will represent her country at the upcoming edition of Miss Universe, to be held in December in Eilat, Israël. On winning the national crown, Sacoto exclaimed, “It is a dream come true, since I was a child I wanted to be Miss Ecuador and thus be an ambassador for the integral Ecuadorian woman. Now that I have achieved it, at the moment in which I proposed it, I plan to carry out all personal activities for the benefit of the elderly and children, as well as the projects of the Miss Ecuador organization.“
Hailing from Portoviejo, the 24-year-old beauty queen graduated from La Universidad Catolica de Santiago de Guayaquil with a law degree. After her graduation, she enrolled at the Universidad de Especialidades Espíritu Santo (UEES) in Guayaquil, Ecuador to pursue a bachelor’s degree in medicine and is expected to graduate in 2026. Currently, she works as a lawyer. Sacoto also studied English in Cambridge, UK and also speaks French.
She is alos an ambassador, who aspires to carry out her campaign dedicated to protecting the health of the country’s elderly and children with visual problems, especially due to glaucoma.
Susy is not a newbie to pageantry, She was Miss Panamerican Ecuador 2018 and represented Ecuador and competed against 15 other candidates at Miss Panamerican International 2018 in Anaheim, California, United States. She was unplaced. She was the third runner-up in the Miss Jewel of the World 2019 pageant, which was held in the Philippines.
During this noght, Valeria Gutiérrez Mendoza became the first runner-up (or Miss Ecuador International 2021), while Karla Romero Fuentes was chosen as the second runner-up at the end of the event finale.
Born in Guayaquil, Valeria Gutiérrez lives in Miami, USA. She studied professional broadcast presenting at the Aspire TV Presenter Training in London, England. Now, she was pursuing her bachelor’s degree in social communication at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) in Los Angeles, California, USA. She speaks English, Spanish and Portuguese. The representative of Ecuadorian community in the U.S. will represent her country at Miss International 2022 in Japan.
