Banna Prabha Kranti Nandita, professionally known as Nandita Banna, was crowned Miss Universe Singapore 2021, at the end of the pageant, held on September 17 at National Museum in Singapore. She was chosen for the title from among eight finalists in the contest and succeeds Miss Universe Singapore 2020 Bernadette Belle Ong. She will represent Singapore at the upcoming edition of Miss Universe in Eilat, Israel in December this year.
Soon after winning the title, Nandita said that she would like to raise issues in Singapore like racism through the platform. Nandita’s family had settled in Singapore 25 years ago. Her parents, Madhuri and Govardhan, belong to Srikakulam.
Currently, the 21-year-old beauty queen is pursuing a course in Business Management and Information Systems (business analytics) in Singapore Management University. She also likes learning new skills like coding. Her hobbies include skating, cooking and dancing.
Nandita is an active volunteer at Care Corner Singapore, where she mentors primary school students and helps them learn life skills. She is passionate about leveraging technology to create a more sustainable future.
She also works as a part-time model. Last year, she appeared in a TV ad promoting the Singapore’s Housing and Development Board. In March this year, she modelled for Louis Vuitton Women’s Spring Summer 2021 at the Art-science Museum in Singapore. She was also featured on the December 2020-January 2021 issue of Vogue Singapore.
