Miss Earth USA Delegates Remove 400 Pounds of Trash from Orlando Parks

Miss Earth USA and their state delegates from coast to coast show they are more than beauty; they are beauties for a cause. This week, sixty-two delegates from the pageant’s Miss and Mrs. divisions participated in a local Community Service Day Project, cleaning up and removing 215 pounds of litter from Park of The Americas, and 185 pounds from Demetree Park, for 400 pounds of total collected debris. Their work ensures that the collected litter will be disposed of properly rather than ending up in the lakes and public recreation areas. By diverting the littered materials from the local environment, the Miss Earth USA pageant is helping to keep public spaces accessible to all including the local wildlife.

The Community Service Day Project was facilitated by Keep Orlando Beautiful, a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization that works on projects to keep Orlando “The City Beautiful”, including several education programs, public space and event recycling bin implementation, as well as numerous community cleanup and beautification events.

“The energy of the entire Miss Earth USA team is exactly what our organization strives to create and I appreciate them bringing it once more,” said Sean Hipps , coordinator from Keep Orlando Beautiful. “We truly appreciate the time and effort of everyone involved and it was so great working with such bright and passionate people.”

The project was sponsored by Garbo Grabber and The Clean Earth Project.

We look forward to the National Pageant Service Day every year. We’re proud to support these incredible Earth Mission driven ladies on their quest to become Miss Earth USA! It’s an honor to have these delegates using our litter pick up tools within their platforms and in the fight to help keep our Earth clean,” said a representative from Garbo Grabber.

The Community Service Day has become an annual event for the pageant and one of the many local clean-up projects that the organization and their representatives organize throughout the year to help keep public spaces clean.

I could not have asked for a better system to share my journey with than Miss Earth USA. What makes this organization so beautiful, is that it fully embraces the missions of sustainability on both a local and global level. We want to care for and clean our parks, canyons, walking trails, and beaches, in order to make them more accessible and enjoyable for all,” said Marisa Butler, Miss Earth USA 2021.

The delegates are in Orlando to participate in the 2022 Miss Earth USA pageant activities taking place January 6-9 at the Orange County Convention Center and the Rosen Centre Hotel, with final competitions and crowning to be held on Saturday. The pageant and their delegates are committed to raising awareness for environmentalism and sustainability through charitable efforts conducted via the official nonprofit 501(c)3 organization B4AC – Beauties for a Cause. The organization encourages delegates to also arrange their own Think Global Act Local community events. Each year, the organization awards scholarships and conducts a major mission trip to aid in environmental impact projects around the country.
